9 DB members met for the Mid Devon field meeting around Clampitt Estate, passing by the Quaker Burial Ground and on the hillside overlooking KennickReservoir. We then walked around the north end of Tottiford and on our way stopped to sit in the beautiful sunshine overlooking the reservoir for a picnic lunch! Water level was very high on all the reservoirs. There was great interest in watching the frogs below the banks of the reservoir where there was also a large expanse of frog spawn. A total of 39 bird species were seen/heard which included: 6 Goosander, Tufted Duck, Lesser Black Backed Gull,Cormorant, Little Grebe, Mistle Thrush, Song Thrush, Marsh Tit, Tree Creeper, Siskin, Goldcrest, Redwing, Pied Wagtail, Grey Wagtail and Raven. A very enjoyable day with good company.
