Dave Jenks passes on Archivist role to Mike Tyler

After devoting nearly 15 years researching and acquiring documents and artefacts relating to Devon Birds history since its start up in 1928 Dave Jenks has now passed responsibility for the role to Mike Tyler.

During his close on fifty year membership of the Society Dave has contributed large amounts of time and effort as Membership Secretary for several years and later into 1998 creating and taking on the role of Archivist.  At the same time he researched and wrote the book “The History of Devonshire Ornithology” including of course the formation of our Society.

On behalf of the Society I would like to thank Dave for his very significant contribution to recording the history and growth of Devon Birds and trust that he and his wife can enjoy a well earned rest.

I am very pleased to confirm that Mike Tyler our recent Chairman has agreed to take on the role and I am sure he will prove to be a safe pair of hands for the work that Dave has started so well.

If members have any memorabilia or historic documents they feel they can pass on to the Society please contact Mike.
