Topsham (Bowling Green Marsh/Goat Walk)

Good day's birding around Topsham today. A Common Sandpiper at Bowling Green Marsh was my first of the autumn and a Whimbrel showing well off the River Clyst viewpoint was a nice surprise. Plenty of Teal and 6+ Wigeon amongst the Canada Geese on the marsh too. Also 3 Ring-necked Parakeet calling in trees adjacent to The Goatwalk mid afternoon, unmistakably (hear these birds all the time when in London).

The common sandpiper disappeared and failed to reappear after Martin left.  However, a whimbrel showed up well among the prolific curlews, and shortly after two juvenile ringed plovers and a lovely curlew sandpiper flew into the muddy pool just to the right of the hide. These were briefly joined by a beautifully marked juvenile ruff.  There were also nine greenshanks at Goosemoor.
