We are back in Lockdown, all sightings posts from observers should only be in their very local area (town, village or part of city). Any posts where the observer is obviously travelling distances to other sites will be deleted, Devon Birds will not edit these posts.

Closure of Dawlish Warren dune path

We have been informed that due to storm damage and erosion the dune path that provides access to the bird hide has been closed as it is unsafe. Access from Groyne 10 to Groyne 15 will only be via the beach and is subject to tides.

During the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak the use of Devon Birds bird hides should be in line with Government guidelines to individuals on how to protect themselves.

Sunday 7th October 2018

Devon Deer Watching

138 Red Deer seen from first light this morning along the Devon and Somerset border.

 

The only avian interest being two flocks of Golden Plover the largest with 23 birds, several sizable flocks of Goldfinch and Linnet and a Kestrel.

A Lesser Black Back Gull on the Rv Exe at Tiverton

Ashton near Chudleigh nineteen Fallow Deer and a female Sparrowhawk at Chudleigh.

Back home at South Brent a large flock of Tits came through the garden 20 plus Blue, 1 Coal, 3 Long Tailed and a single Chiffchaff.

 

The Hobby came in at 16.10hrs, a Tawny owl had been calling at 05.30hrs.
