Exmoor – Devon/Somerset border

Spent nine hours meandering over the moor in superb light. Large numbers of migrating Meadow Pipits and Skylarks, as well as flocks of Goldfinches and Linnets and a light but steady passage of Swallows. Highlights included three Hobbies (one of which was in Somerset), a Whinchat (in Somerset), a juvenile Cuckoo (I think my latest ever), which was also about a hundred metres into Somerset. What was most definitely in Devon, however, was a very surprising Wryneck, at Shallowford, a few km inland from Lynton.
