Prawle

Arrived at the NT car park at 7.10am . Dull, overcast and breezy on arrival but bright by 9.45, though still breezy . Lots of birds along the coast and inland ( though had to leave at 1.45pm and hadn’t searched Pig’s Nose, Sewage Works nor the Loop !  ) . No sign of any rare Shrikes.

Highlight ,that might have been, was the ringtail Harrier sp. that flew east over the car park at 12.35 while I watched briefly at the top of the lane : slim winged, narrow hand and small white rump !

Also 3 Redstarts (One 1st year male and 2 fems along same hedge as 2 Robins ); 1 Spotted Flycatcher; 3 Whinchats ; 5 Wheatears ; 10 Yellow Wagtails and 15 Alba Wags; c 40 Chiffchaffs ; c20 Blackcaps ; 4 Whitethroats ; 25+ Robins; c 250 Meadow Pipits and c 60 Linnets .  And a steady trickle of hirundines which I estimated numbered at least 200 ,mainly Swallows , then House Martins and a few Sand Martins. Crests heard but Pat’s Firecrest and Goldcrest not seen by me.
