Upottery Airfield, Smeatharpe

A combination of clear nights, strong easterly winds and disturbance from farm working has made for hard going the last few days. However a few migrants still to be found;

this morning 3 Wheatears, 2 Whinchat, 2 Stonechat (m,f), Whitethroat and Chiffchaff. 3 Lapwing settled on rough pasture after the first 2 of the autumn yesterday.

Linnets (26), Meadow Pipits (c50 but probably an underestimate) and Skylarks (20) steadily increasing but without the arable field on the airfield it is difficult to see how the big numbers seen in the past will attracted here this autumn.
