South Huish Marsh

As an addendum to Perry's post, I spent around four hours at South Huish before the Purple Heron showed itself at the back of the marsh around 15:00.  It never flew but was stalking back & forth and was still in view when I left 45 minutes later.  Also there was a Curlew Sandpiper and about a dozen Dunlin being the only waders.  Handfulls of House Martin and Sand Martin were in the Swallow flocks.  Good numbers of Pied/White Wagtails and Meadow Pipits and 4 or 5 Wheatear were in the cattle field.  A lone Sparrowhawk caused a brief bit of excitement causing everything but the heron to rise.
