River Caen

Walked down the east bank again this morning to see if John's Osprey was still present. A birder on the opposite side said it was but also a Wryneck 'down the Toll road'. So I hastened down to the mouth of the river, and there indeed was the Osprey on the usual post. A Wheatear also present. Back to the bike and off down the toll road. At the designated spot, no Wryneck.... I was joined by Ian Taylor and two others (John & ?) but no sign. There were however probably 28 Greenshank and 2 Black-tailed Godwits roosting in Horsey Mere. Lots of Redshank there too. The Marsh Harrier was also seen. Then the Osprey joined in the fun flying over and even swooping down to the mere. All it did was disturb all the waders! Had to leave at 11.40, Wryneck-less.
