Wembury, 8th August

Despite the crowds of holiday makers on the main beach at Wembury this sanderling was busily feeding along the tide line oblivious to people nearby and seen down to a few metres. It was surprisingly easy to overlook it or lose sight of it against the pebbles and seaweed with its cryptic plumage patterning.
