Prawle Sightings

A glorious sunny day spent at Prawle - until rain clouds and drizzle from 1.30pm. No Wryneck seen by me but highlight ? My earliest Black Redstart (Horsley Cove area) or a Lesser Whitethroat near Bunkers ? But lovely to see Wheatears popping up nearly everywhere I went (minimum 60 ) especially on the Hump. Later on the airfields 25 seen together with 2 Whinchats , 6 Yellow Wags, min 6 White Wagtails and 20 Pied Wags (tho no waders yet) Every cloud ? The rain clouds brought in a min estimate of 100 Sand Martins, 75 Swallows and 50 House Martins and 1 Common Swift. Wader-wise could only muster a Ringed Plover and a Redshank.

Butterfly-wise : 1 Small Pearl Bordered Fritillary,1 Painted Lady and at least 9 Clouded Yellows. Whites and Wall Browns everywhere.

Best wishes to Pat-hope the op. went well, see you soon !
