Gull Billed Turn ~ Passage House Inn, Newton Abbot

Mid morning on a very low and dropping tide at the Passage House Inn the reported GULL BILLED TERN was on almost constant display for well over an hour during our visit, a remarkably confiding and attractive species of Tern, the bird was flying and feeding in close to a good number of gathered birders, frequently taking insects on the wing as well as diving into the water, usually within 75 yards either side of the car park.

Also seen Red Breasted Merganzer, Greater Black Backed, Herring and Black Headed Gulls, Heron & Little Egret, Cormorant, Curlew, Buzzard, several small reed birds that managed to avoid being identified, a Fox on the for bank.
