Released Cuckoo ~ South Brent

Yesterday saw the release of the Cuckoo collected from the vets on Sunday.

Dave Scott kindly checked the bird over and fitted it with a BTO ring before releasing it; from its plumage we suspect the bird is a second year female.

After perching on Dave's hand for what seemed a life time the bird eventually flew off strongly across one of my fields before landing in a mature Oak, over a period of time the bird laddered up into the top of the tree before making off a little later.

A Great Spotted Woodpecker flew in at one point scolding at the Cuckoo's intrusion.

Later in the day a high speed low level pass from a Hobby the fourth one I have seen here this month
