Yarner Woods

Identification help required small bird, pale grey head, brown back, pale front with reddish tint and black tail with white edges unfortunately no camera today. On checking all my bird guides the closest I can see is Red-breasted flycatcher! as per pg 249 in my Hamyln guide. There was initially one then another arrived after a fight both flew off.

They were seen where you enter yarner from the lower trendlebere car park on the path between the scrub land half way along on the left. Hopefully someone else can spot them and advise what they were.

Good view of Cuckoo calling at Emsworthy just past the barn.

Eds - male Linnet? Red-breasted Flycatcher is extremely unlikely.
