Exminster Marshes

Walk to the Turf this evening was most rewarding. In the field next to the railway bridge on the reserve was one cattle egret with the Galloway cattle. At the end of the path alongside the railway was a small group of hirundines; 5 house martins, 2 swallows and one red-rumped swallow. It hawked for insects in the lee of the two large trees. No sign on our return at 7.30pm but lots of singing sedge, reed and Cettis warblers.
