R.Taw, Barnstaple. Pottington to Ashford Sewage Works 1345-1530

Black-tailed Godwit 31; Bar-tailed Godwit 1; Common Gull 2; Shelduck 16; Common Sandpiper 1. 3 Willow Warbler feeding on insects in the Blackthorn bushes hanging over Bradiford Water.

At 1355 while sat on the sea wall by Ashford Sewage Works picked up 2 very small gulls on the foreshore. Initially thought that the first may have been the Bonaparte`s Gull seen at Wrafton last week. After picking up the second and observing them for just over 1/2hr decided that both were late first winter Little Gulls. Both disappeared at about 1430 but one returned at 1505 and was still there at 1515 when I left.
