Spring arrivals

On our daily dog walk around the Kenwith Valley reserve in Bideford this morning, the water level was higher than I have ever seen it, with at least half of the lake circuit pathway under about 30 -50 cms of water. With a female Sparrowhawk high over the lake, we spotted our first Sedge Warblers (3) and the first Reed Warbler in amongst the Phragmites - The high water level made it much easier to see the birds from the  raised bank section because they were all easily spotted against the background of heightened lake water
