Dartmoor this morning, my first Hobby of the year just above Ashburton also two male Yellow Hammer.

Two Cuckoos calling at Cherry Brook, a large flock 50 plus birds made up of Goldfinch and Redpoll, a Heron and a Mallard drake and Meadow Pipits.

Warren House Inn down to Sousson's at least four Cuckoo calling and then three seen together in flight chasing each other towards the top end of the plantation.

Several displaying Reed Bunting, two Wheatear, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Skylarks, Meadow Pipits carrying food items, Green Woodpecker, Raven, Buzzard and two Kestrel.

Whinchat all over, at least nine on the walk out and easily that number on the way back to the car, calling and showing well, very surprised to find a female Pied Flycatcher not what I expected at that location.

At the entrance to Challcombe two Cuckoos seen close up one in tree and the other flying up to it in display, also Swallows, Pied Wagtail two Stonechat and two Wheatear.

Back at home a Sparrow Hawk carrying food back to a local nest site.
