East Prawle

In a NE wind, breezier than forecast, I hadn't planned to sewatch but did so from 7.40 to 10.30 with Pat seeing : I Arctic Skua dp, 1 Red Throated Diver sp, 16 Bar Tailed Godwits, 8 Whimbrel and 1 Grey Plover all east, and 1 Manxie west. Also 27 Sandwich Terns east and 6 west.

As for passerines the highlights were : 2 male Redstarts and 3 Common Whitethoats ; c 50 Swallows mainly in off the sea , flying inland and 11 House Martins. 3 Wheatears, 25+ Chiffchaffs, 10+ Willow Warblers ,5 singing,and at least 6 Blackcaps,

Butterflies : Common Blue, Large White,Green Veined White, Orange Tip, Small Tortoiseshell, Speckled Wood ,Small Copper and Green Hairstreak (Pat also saw a Wall Brown) And 2 Adders near the Coastguard Cottages..
