On his visit to several Dartmoor woods on Wednesday and Thursday Malcolm Burgess reported that he found a Redstart and  male Pied Flycatchers in Bovey Valley Woodlands and a further four male Pied Flys in Yarner.

The Yarner Wood team also reported a Blue Tit nest with two eggs laid, the first on 7th April.  This is the joint second earliest ever egg recorded at Yarner since 1955!

Malcolm’s team of Pied Fly Nesters will also be recording the first arrivals and passing the info on to him.   If you see a Pied Flycatcher in the next couple of weeks at other locations – please send your record to me and I will make sure the information is passed on to Malcolm.
