Exminster Marshes

During a boat trip from Exeter to the Turf on the Exeter canal this morning there was a steady passage of swifts overhead. A single common sandpiper flew north and 2 dunlin were at Turf. A peregrine was flying west over the estuary north of Turf.

Walking back over the marshes at 13.30 I counted 6 hobbies south of the motorway bridge (these birds were probably over the lagoon earlier). I heard or saw 1 lesser whitethroat, 2 whitethroats, 3 Cettis warblers, 4 sedge warblers and 2 reed warblers.
