South Efford Marsh ~ Aveton Gifford

No sign of the reported Shrike but a steady trickle of birders arriving so I hope it turns up.

First warm sunny morning for some time lots of flying insects to be seen, good numbers of Swallows & House Martins overhead.

One warbler species seen as it flashed by, good numbers of Chiffchaff, some singing from vantage points one seen collecting and then dropping nesting material, two Linnets put up one very coloured but very flighty, female Blackcap and several Long Tailed Tits showing very well, five Egrets on the marsh along with a pair of Shell duck, couple of Jays overhead. Single Morrhen flew into the leat.

Despite low tide very little in the way of waders to be seen
