Berry Head/Aveton Gifford/Slapton Ley

Day out with Jake Wood started well with Long-eared Owl at Berry Head with Firecrest behind the cattle trough in the meadow and a Wheater on the headland. Little other sign of migration and very quiet overhead.

It would appear the Water Pipits at South Efford Marsh have departed, however the reserve looked perfect for this species, on site:- 5 Swallow, 14 Little Egret, 6 Shellduck, 3 Green Sandpiper, 2 Common Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank, 3 Redshank, 12 Chiffchaff and 8 Willow Warbler.

At Slapton Ley highlights were male Greater Scaup, single male Goldeneye, a Water Rail and this Black-necked Grebe.
