South Brent / Stover / Dartmoor

A good day for birds of prey, overnight at home at South Brent a Barn owl calling, a female Sparrow hawk this afternoon and a Tawny owl in its usual Holly tree roost later in the day, on Dartmoor three Buzzards.

An early morning walk around Stover produced very little, the water levels are very high and the water very discoloured, a drake Mandarin, a small number of Tufted duck, a single Lesser Black Backed Gull, three Jays, a couple of  Nuthatch and a fly over Raven were the only birds of note.

Around the garden feeders and home a Green Woodpecker calling on and off for most of the day, Wren, Pied Wagtail, Bullfinch, Greenfinch, Siskin, Nuthatch, Long Tailed Tit, female Reed Bunting and the “Italian” look alike cock Sparrow a regular over the afternoon, flyover Raven, Buzzard and two Great Black Backed Gulls.
