Exminster Marshes

Despite the sunshine little sign of spring on the marshes today, not even a sand martin, although I saw 2 yesterday. Late afternoon  the high tide wader roost contained c200 curlew, c50 black-tailed godwits and a few hundered dunlin. Yesterday there was one ruff with 16 lapwing. Wigeon numbers continue to fall and they appeared to have formed one flock. Still lots of teal, 8 tufted duck, 4 pintail and c60 shoveller.

The brent geese were near the Turf and the black brant was with them. I saw or heard 4 chiffchaffs. On the estuary at Turf there was one avocet.
