South Huish

Unable to get out recently to enjoy the influx of early migrants , although I did notice a male Blackcap (over winterer ? ) and 2 Chiffchaffs (migrants ? ) in my garden in Plympton yesterday and today (one Chiffchaff's bill and forehead dark due to pollen ?) Opportunity arose to go to South Huish Marsh this afternoon from 2 till 4pm i glorious Spring sunshine. Ruddy Shelduck  still at the back of the marsh ; 5 Wheatears including a female ; 2  Water Pipits including one in summer plumage ( just love that peachy  hue on the breast ) ; at least 1 White Wagtail amongst 20+ Pied Wagtails ; and at the back of the marsh the Little Ringed Plover ,picked up by another birder, and taking time to confirm identity : golden eye-ring and black bill etc.Pied Wags becoming excited and singing whilst sparring in the air ; 6 + Teal whistling and vying for the affections of the 2 accompanying females .Lovely venue and delightful weather. Must do more of this.
