Slapton Ley

Plymouth Branch field meeting at a flooded Lower Ley found 3 black necked grebe in summer plummage, 3 goldeneye 1 M.,6 gadwall and 7 little grebes among a large numbers of tufted duck. 3 wheatear and numerous chiff chaff fed all around the watersedge. Snipe and reed bunting also seen.

A couple of cettis warbler were calling at Slapton Bridge.

40 sand martins and 3 swallows battled into an easterly strong wind flying from Ireland Bay towards the bridge. Higher path is accessible but wet from bridge toward Ireland Bay.
