Exminster Marshes

The adult spoonbill still present at 9.00 am although it remained huddled up apparently asleep throughout my visit. Also seen in the middle of the main marsh 6 little egrets. Elsewhere, near the Turf, one redpoll, 2 siskins, one jay and a chiffchaff on the tide-line, another two in the bushes near the railway line. Wildfowl included c400 brents, c12 shelduck, 20 tufted duck and lots of wigeon. Waders were scarce c50 curlew, 15 golden plover (although I counted 85 yesterday afternoon), c30 snipe and two dunlin. 3 Cettis warblers were singing well. Brief glimpses of 2 or 3 water rails.
