Isley Marsh

I received a phone call from a very good birder (John Kelly) this morning who tells me he saw an Avocet on the marsh yesterday evening at high tide. It was confirmed by an unknow guy with a camera who apparantly took a record shot of the bird.

I am not sure what records there are for Avocet on the Taw but I can only remember once seeing a pair at anchor wood bank many years ago. With the number of Avocet in South Devon it has always suprised me why we do not see more in North Devon - I suspect there is a logical reason for it.
