Tarka Trail

Thrilled to watch, at close range, a pair of smart dippers busy gathering moss beside the Torridge, about 100 yards Torrington side of the Watergate Bridge layby.  Next time I won't leave the camera in the car.  Also a red admiral enjoying the winter sunshine at RHS Rosemoor.  Birds very active there on the feeders, including coal, great, blue and long-tailed tits and scores of chaffinches.  Greenfinch and goldfinches heard, a goldcrest fidgetting in a cherry tree, and a song thrush tuning up in full view on top of a yew hedge.
