Exe Estuary (Powderham Church - Turf)

The East Devon fieldtrip  (East Devon Branch) attracted 19 members (with an unusual ratio of 13 women and 6 men present). With a low tide good numbers of geese and waders were present on the estuary and fields and gave a memorable show as they flew overhead.  Avocet, Black-tailed Godwit, Dunlin, Curlew, Grey Plover and Brent Geese being the main species in numbers.  Several Red breasted Merganser and Pintail were present and a small group of Sanderling were seen at a distance.  Some members walked on to the viewing hide on the canal where other duck and Golden Plover were added to the list giving a total of c50 species. Thanks to Colin Randall for leading the group.
