Slapton Ley

Calmer day, though standing on the shingle ridge, still a moderate to fresh wind coming anywhere from SW-NW.

7 Black-necked Grebe, 22 Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, 132 Gadwall, Shoveler, 54 Wigeon, 2 Scaup ( m,f ), 366 Tufted Duck, 32 Pochard, Red-crested Pochard x Tufted Duck hybrid, 9 Goldeneye and 353 Coot. Out in Start Bay were 3 Great Northern Divers, Slavonian Grebe, 2 Common Scoter and a few Razorbills. Surprisingly few gulls around ( winds with an easterly component best to bring them in here...when it was rough saturday morning i had to do a non-birding drive along the line and there were none around then so low numbers not due to calmer conditions ).
