Northam Skern

A count in the area of the High Water roost this morning revealed a couple of interesting additions to the usual species which I have been recording there in the past couple of months: 2 Spotted Redshank amongst the other redshanks on the pool across the road from the Skern Saltings roost site, and 5 Common Scoter on the sea about 30m from the edge of the tide.  There was also a single Pochard amongst the 220 Wigeon and 52 Pintail, and my highest Golden Plover count of the season at just over 700.  Curlew, Oystercatcher and Shelduck numbers were unchanged, though this was my first ever visit to the Burrows when I didn't see at least one Little Egret!
