Red-crested Pochard, Bicton College Lake

It would appear that the female Red-crested Pochard that has been visiting Budleigh intermittently since Nov 16th has now taken up residence at Bicton College Lake. It was present this morning with a couple of Tufted Duck.

There is not normally public access to the lake, but I have spoken to Bicton College who have very kindly agreed that any visiting birdwatchers are welcome to view the lake to see the bird so long as they agree to the following simple rules:

1 - Park in the visitors car park.
2 - During the week you must sign in and out at reception
3 - On a weekend reception is closed, but please give a courtesy call to the Warden (
079771 48270) to let him/her know that you are on site birdwatching by the lake.

All College staff are aware of the bird, so there should be no problems
