A Lesser Whitethroat on the Hoe this morning. Judging by the call it's a good candidate for an eastern race. I got some plumage details but wasn't able to spend as long as I would have liked on it and was wary of tones in strong sunlight, but some potentially promising features (perhaps more in favour of blythi).
It was frequenting trees and bushes on the south side of the road below the marine laboratory building where the "Welcome to Plymouth" sign is carved in the bank.

I left it at c9am; as far as I know all searches, since have failed to find it. It would be good if others could see it and I'd welcome views.

Also Blackcap and Chiffchaff in the area.
