Wintering Blackcaps

This month I have ringed 7 Blackcaps in my garden in Braunton. 5 males and 2 females. Although they may overwinter, two of the males have had very high fat scores (65 and 70) indicating that they are ready to migrate. The male ringed today was also well covered (score 50). I've also no idea where all these birds come from - never had a bird ringed elsewhere, and never had any of mine recovered elsewhere after release. This after nearly 20 years of catching Blackcaps here! Perhaps one of this year's might be appear as a control somewhere else.
