Slapton Ley

08:15-13:00, Sunny bright day, light north wind strengthening a little through morning.

2 Great Crested Grebe, 12 Little Grebe, 52 Mute Swan, 73 Canada Geese ( single flock which included a pure white domestic type goose and a couple hybrids, maybe Greylag x Canada ), Little Egret ( infrequent visitor here ), 69 Gadwall, 203 Wigeon ( exclusively in Ireland Bay ), 2 Shoveler, 265 Tufted Duck, Scaup ( male, from footpath c200 metres north of Torcross car park ), 54 Pochard, Red-crested Pochard x Tufted Duck hybrid, 549 Coot, 45 Moorhen, Lapwing ( on one of the weed islands in Ireland Bay ), Mediterranean Gull ( first winter ) and 5 Siskin. Possible Redpoll sp. calling over Slapton Bridge and possible Snow Bunting called twice flying north near Memorial. Both times coincided with heavy passing traffic so not 100% sure on either. Very little on the sea but a bright glare did not help. Of note around 500 Kittiwakes feeding towards Blackpool Sands but no accompanying Skuas.
