Aylesbeare Common E. Devon

Clear movemnt of Wood Pigeons west over the East Devon Pebblebed ridge at 10.30 onwards when I watched.  The flocks averaged 100 birds and came in every 15mins from the Sidmouth Gap area before passing over the Otter valley and climbing over the ridge between Venn Ottery Common and Aylesbeare Common.

There has been discussion over the years as to where the flocks go and where they come from with various theories put forward.  Clearly this is an annual event with flocks passing down through Devon but no clear evidence of them heading out to sea.  If they are seen heading out to sea from the south Devon coast please could we know.
