East Soar

Following on from my post earlier, Pete Aley and I went down to East Soar Farm and onto Starehole Valley. We saw Roger's Yellow-Browed Warbler in the Copse by East Soar Farm as we past. We then went on to see the 1st wint Red-breasted Flyctacher and a third Yellow-browed Warbler in Storehole Valley. Eric and Alan had also seen Pete's Yellow-browed Warbler from yesterday in the pines/wood today, making a total of FOUR in the Soar area today. Added to this one Eric saw in Tor Wood yesterday makes FIVE over the weekend.

There had been a good number of Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps in the East Soar area today though we didn't see so many being there after lunch only, so the numbers in brackets are conservative. We saw 20 Blackcaps (84 for day), 28 Chiffchaff (88 for day), 8 Wheatear (11 for day), 2 Whinchat, 6 Goldcrest (9 for day).

Also Clouded Yellow (2), Comma, Peacock, Small Copper (2).
