Upottery Airfield, Smeatharpe

A return to local birding after 2 weeks away. 26 Golden Plover were the first of the autumn and a good number for the beginning of October. 2 Snipe, 30+ Pied Wags, 30+ Mipit, 12 Linnets and a handful of Skylarks. The Little Owl in its usual place. Visual passage of swallows heading south with over 50 in around 50 minutes.

Unfortunately the arable field has been turned into a single species grass field this year which doesn't bode well for late autumn and winter flocks of finches, mipits and skylarks and possibly for holding the GP's. Time will tell.
