Start and Prawle

Started off 0815 at Start, where Bob Burridge had been collecting Redwing corpses (plus a Dunlin) from near the lighthouse after another foggy night. Few birds around the Point track in a rising E wind but the back valley and cliffside scrub on the south side were more productive with 6+ Ring Ouzels, 50+ Blackbirds and 200+ Redwings plus a few Song Thrushes and Fieldfares. A Merlin hunting the area and a ringtail Hen Harrier near the radio masts. Two distant  geese flying over near the masts may have been Barnacle.

Did not reach Prawle until lat am  by which time birds seemed more dispersed there, saw Ring Ouzel by carpark and 10+ Goldcrest in Reserve but no sign of today's Firecrest seen by another observer or of yesterday's Yellow-browed Warbler. At Pigs Nose valley another 3-4 Ring Ouzels and some movement eastward of thrushes up the valley including dozens of Blackbirds. Two Egyptian Geese in flight over Airfield.
