East Devon (Sunday)

A few words that might help define the extraordinary passage of house martins witnessed yesterday. At about 10.00 I walked east from the Otter estuary towards Sidmouth. I turned inland at Peak Hill. During the 3 hours I failed to see any house martins. I did record about 100 swallows all flying out to sea  (SE).

Also seen; 2 wheatears, c40 skylarks, 6 brent geese (flying west & dark bellied), a few meadow pipits and c100 woodpigeons (flew out to sea).
