Velator etc

Not a great deal of note of late, but a couple of Golden moments as I enjoyed some coffee this morning - first a female Goldcrest  flew out over the pond and back then furiously chased insects until disappearing into the trees. Then a good-size charm of Goldfinches settled on a now long-dormant Sea Buckthorn and seemed to find something of interest. Tawny Owl and Water Rail called.

However, bird (!) of the day turned out to be a Bat, seen from my garden on the North side of Braunton at about 5 p.m. this evening. A good deal bigger than the Pipistrelles I see in the reserve, but I'm no expert - Lesser Horseshoe? Seems pretty early in the year whatever it was.
