Out walking with Nigel Pinhorn this morning we were very surprised to come across a Common Scoter in the Exe flood relief channel at Exwick (behind Exeter St David's Station).  It seemed quite happy and was diving regularly to feed. Another new tick for Nigel's local patch was a Barnacle Goose in the new wetland area just upriver.

Earlier on, a couple of Hawfinch showed well perched in the trees at the top end of Exwick Cemetery, and a flock of at least ten of them flew over.
