Plymouth

A glorious sunny day down around Plymouth today.

Steer Point, Brixton ~ Curlew, Redshank, Oystercatcher and Green Woodpecker calling from across the river.

Turnchapel ~ Little Grebe (4) Kingfisher, Shelduck, Redshank, Little Egret, Grey Heron and Cormorant. (Local resident reported seeing a Barn owl at Staddiscombe in the last day or so)

Mount Batten ~ Rock Pipit, large numbers of Goldfinch one counted flock of 32 birds, hen Stonechat, several Goldcrest, Shag, Cormorant, Oystercatcher, Curlew, Great Black Backed Gull all viewed from the car park overlooking the break water.

From the slip way in front of the boat yards a very obliging Mediterranean Gull and Little Egret.

On the River Plym from the Embankment 6 Red-breasted Merganser (4 M – 2F) Redshank, Kingfisher, Curlew, Little Egret, at least 4 Little Grebe, Shelduck and the expected gull species.
