Corndonford Farm - 24.1.15 - Merlin

Returned to Corndonford Farm at about 11am this morning. Two other birders, one of them by chance Bob Bailey from South Devon, whose son Mark's post on 22.1.15 had led to me being on the moor yesterday. There was no sign of the grey grey shrike sighted yesterday, but as I was pointing out the sighting location to Bob, a small falcon flew over my shoulder and alighted some distance away, part way up on Corndon Tor. Bob ran for his scope and identified it as a male merlin. It remained in situ for some minutes, allowing me to scale the hill and get a bit closer for a distant photo.
