N Devon

Looked at the Taw at Pottington this afternoon: the flock of Brent Geese still loafing on the sandbank, about 300, all too close together to get an accurate count. A pair of Goosander feeding off Pottington and another pair drifting down on the stream tight into Anchor Wood bank. Further up near the new bridge the female Goldeneye, and a Lesser Black-backed Gull preening with the Herring Gulls. A look in at Bradiford reserve as I left and bingo - a Kingfisher on the post I put in by the pond!

Back at Velator, excellent close views of one of the female Marsh Harriers right by the reserve.
