Walked from Pottington (Bradiford reserve) to the new bridge, but sadly no sign of the Smew. (are they low water birds?) Not sure what time of day or the state of the tide when they were seen yesterday? Flock of Dunlin had a couple of Sanderling and a Ringed Plover or two. Lots of Lapwing and Golden Plover in fields behind Penhill Marsh. Bradiford reserve had a flock of winter Thrushes (about 100 - equal numbers of Redwing and Fieldfare. The Green Sandpiper was still in the stream by Ashford sewage works. A bedraggled Chiffchaff was foraging along the trail.
