Otter at BGM

After a poor morning's birding at Dartington (no stubble on fields by the school) and Staverton Water works (not one bird seen in 40 minutes!) we moved to BGM where we were rewarded with some stunning waterfowl including beautiful Pintails, handsome Shoveler, pretty Teal and whistling Wigeon. Also Snipe showing well and a few Black Tailed Godwit. A real treat, though, was n Otter that was hunting in the stretch of water adjacent to the reeds behind the 'island'. We saw it surfacing, diving and eventually coming to the surface with a fish which it then consumed in open water affording great, prolonged views.
