Exminster Marshes

Not a bird, but very exciting nevertheless! Yesterday a Norfolk (Green-eyed) Hawker was found along the ditch running east from the end of Milbury Lane. I found it patrolling the same area again this morning, then long the wider drain at the end (just N of the 'bridge'). This is the first record of this species in SW England. Also present were 6 Scarce Chasers and - another new dragonfly for the Marshes (although present on Exeter Canal) - Small Red-eyed Damselfly. I know I'm biased, but dragonflies can provide a very satisfying alternative to birds in summer!
